Bangladesh: A teenager died while undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early Saturday after being shot in the violence sparked by the quota reform movement. DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Bacchu Mia confirmed the information. The deceased Md Emon, 17, son of late Md Selim of Comilla’s Muradnagar upazila. He lived with his elder sister Tahmina in the capital’s Badda area.
Emon's elder sister Tahmina said that Emon used to work in a hotel on the footpath of Gulshan. On the morning of July 19, on his way from home to work, he was shot in the middle of a clash in the Natun Bazar area. The bullet pierced through his stomach. Neighbours admitted him to DMCH in critical condition. He died on Saturday morning while undergoing treatment there. Bachchu Mia said: "The body of the teenager has been kept at the hospital morgue for post-mortem."
