Bangladesh: Students held a demonstration near the east side of the Bangabandhu Bridge area in Tangail on Wednesday morning, blocking the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway for nearly two hours. As a result, traffic on the Bangabandhu Bridge came to a standstill, causing a traffic jam stretching approximately 10 kilometres on both sides of the highway.
Starting at 10:30am, students gathered at the Bangabandhu Bridge east roundabout, chanting various slogans. Students from various educational institutions in the district participated in the demonstration. They said reforming the quota system was their heartfelt demand and would continue their protest until reforms were made.
Additionally, they demanded justice for the killing of six people during protests across the country a day earlier. Bangabandhu Bridge east police station Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Ashraf said students lifted the blockade at noon.
