Nelly Korda equalled a LPGA record by winning her fifth competition in succession as she guaranteed the primary ladies' major of the year at the Chevron Title. The American, 25, began the last cycle a single shot behind Ryu Hae-ran. Her three-under 69 on a breezy day in Texas saw her completion on 13 under to win her second major by two shots.
Nancy Lopez (1978) and Annika Sorenstam (2005) are the main different players to have won five sequential LPGA occasions. World number one Korda completed in style as well, with a birdie on the last opening, and expressed: "That back nine felt like the longest back nine of my whole life.
"It was a smidgen of a drudgery on the back nine, however I'm glad to get the success. "I was most certainly beginning to feel it on the back nine, simply the nerves setting in. It's a significant. All that I've for a long time needed as a young lady, to lift that significant prize. "As I said, I can at long last inhale now and simply partake in the second since I was most certainly downright apprehensive. I feel wiped out to my stomach."
A late flood from Sweden's Maja Unmistakable assisted her wrap up with favoring on 11 under, while American Lauren Coughlin - who shot the best round of the day with a four-under 68 - finishing joint third on 10 under close by Canada's Brooke Henderson. Ryu's round of 74 implied she completed fifth. English triplet Georgia Corridor, Charley Frame and Lottie Woad - who won the Augusta Public Ladies' Novice recently - all finished the competition with a portion of 23rd spot, on one under. Northern Ireland's Stephanie Glade was a shot further back.
